Can anyone confirm if the Green Jackets were in Aden during the above dates.I did not think so,but came across a GSM with South Arabia clasp.Not looking for names--just Battalion--was it platoon or number of people. Many thanks for any help. Alistair Wilde
Hi Alistair.I have checked some reference books i have but cannot find any indication that the royal green jackets served in aden.If you look on the web site britains small wars it might give you all the regiments that served there.Best wishes Gary.
I served in Aden 1966-1967, and Brigade Commander of 24 Bde was Brig 'Blinky' Butler. Ex commanding officer of 3RGJ. He also had an RGJ driver, whose name escapes me. Also, whislt serving 'up country', there were a couple of ex Greenjackets, serving with 'them'! I know that a battalion sized unit wasn't there, but there were enough of us to make a large platoon.
