Another chap in the pub

Did he serve?

A chap down the pub claims to have served with the Royal Green jackets but ask him for anything specific, like his Service Number and he says he cannot remember it. I reckon he has read too much Andy McNab. He is now starting to annoy people with tales of heroism and I would love to be able to show him up as a bull****ter! Is there any way I can find out if he did/didn't serve with the regiment?

Must be something about our Regiment, all the dreamers that wished they were in it, but weren't....

Tell him to keep on dreaming, and when he turns up in the pub all start whistling the tune  'Hitler has only got one Ball'

His name is Eddie Morgan, not totally sure of the spelling of his surname and he may be Edmund or Edward. He looks mid 40s and reckons he did ten years from the age of 17 or 18, so would have been with you mid to late 80s to mid to late 90s. Are there any questions I could ask him that he must know the answer to, apart from his Service Number of course!

Thanks!

Ask him if he knows what Celer et Audax means? If he was one of us he should have no problem.

Ask him. Where he served and where was he stationed.

Also perhaps he could name a couple of his best mates.

Here's your answer..

Go back to the pub.

If he is still in there drinking then he was a Green Jacket.

NOONE EVER FORGETS THEIR SERVICE NUMBER!!!!

Ask him any of these:

1. Who the RSM was?

2. What platoon and company?

3. Where stationed?

4. Rifle depot, flowerdown or john moore?

5. Training screw?

6. Was it soft durch?

.....then watch the walt squirm, evade and back-pedal!
