I am researching my family tree and on my Great, Great Grandad's 'short service papers from WW1, when it asks 'Have you ever served in any branch of his Majesty's forces..." he replied "yes, 12 years Rifle Brigade"
Can anyone shed any light on this? He lived in Witney in Oxfordshire (very close to where I now live) and was called Edward Moss (no middle name that I know of!)

try this web site mate: Search 'the great war forum'. Once you find it register, its free, their is a great deal of knowledge from the members on the site and they will be happy to help.
I recently did some reseach into a great uncle, they helped a great deal sending me the battalions war diaries and his medal card etc... When I went to France to visit his grave I took photos for the members on the site who had requested them. Very helpful bunch of guys and girls.
hope this helps, any problems get back in touch and I will see what I can do as I'm a member of the site as well.
