A final tweek to the two notes I provided below: on close inspection, the officer's name is C.S. Northcote rpt Northcote. The clothier is given as F.W. Flight, Winchester. There are three rank pips on the shoulder boards plus a metal "M" on the outboard end. There is a black crepe band on the left arm--perhaps a mourning band.
The jacket came with a black cloth lanyard--not pistol lanyard but likely a "special duty" lanyard. It is separate from the jacket--can anyone advise how this would have been worn? Thanks.
