In 1974 Geoff smith who served with the LI  had the unfortunate task of responding with the COs crew to a shooting in Belfast.  When he got to the relevant location he found  the body of Rfn Brian Shaw, RGJ. Geoff has recorded this experience on his web site at www.lightinfantryreunited.co.uk/LIIRELAND/asoldiersdeath.htm and in Ken Whartons Book` A Long Long War`.  This was done to honour the memory of Rfn Brian Shaw.

Geoff Smith would like to obtain is a photo or image of Brian Shaw, not to advertise it, but to put his mind at rest. He never saw Brian`s face that night, only the back of his head for peace of mind he would like to know what he looked like.

If anyone be of assistance please contact ken_wharton@hotmail.com

Hi Ken. Just saw your request for a photo of Brian Shaw. Sent Ken Wharton

a group photo of Recce Pl in Albert St. Mill, 1971. Brian Shaw was attached

to us from the MT as we were short on numbers. Hope he finds it useful.

All the very best

Hi Trevor,

Thank you for your kind help with supplying the photo to Ken wharton of Brian Shaw.

I never ever saw his face ONLY on one of those black and white solid photo copy images that where used in the erly 70s when I prepared the intsum with the coy Int Officer at the end of that week for HQ NI and that was only a small one. To be honest his face was not clear at all just a few blodges of black on white.  The only image I have of him till today was the back of his head, the back of his body and his legs drapped over the floor joists and of course as clear as day, what he was wearing.  Now on rememberance day I can finally put a face to the name to.  Thanks

It is my intention if you agree to put just his face on my web site to finally give his story  a face for people to remember.  The person supposedly or suspected of setting him up is on there and I feel it only fitting to have his.  The face of a Innocent unarmed soldier along side that of a terrorist suspected "MU******R"

Once again thanks.

My web page to view story
