James hooton. Can anyone help? (Moved from Memorium Board)
I don't know if anyone knew jimmy, he was my uncle and he sadly passed away at the end of last year.
I know that he did serve in northern Ireland with the green jackets but i have no idea at what rank or know anything really related to this. Although i would be extremely interested in hearing from anyone that did know him.
I know he was involved in an incident in which the land rover he was in was bombed leaving him with shell shock, and i would assume this was also the reason he left the army.
Thankyou in advance to anyone that can help, and feel free to e mail me at cameronbowden1@googlemail.com

Yes Jim Hooton was definitely in 2RGJ I believe he may have joined us in Malaya about 1965/6 But he definitely was in Munster Germany in 1966 Then I believe he did 2 years in Ballykelly Northern Ireland then I believe he went to Catterick then Gibraltar After that?
Knew Jim very well over the years, first met him in Gib. when he was posted back to A Coy. after a tour at the Depot with JR Coy. He was into Sub-Aqua and all that. He stayed until we got to Tidworth then got out. He then re-enlisted and joined the Bn. in Minden for a while before getting out again. I last saw him at a reunion in Davis St. about 20yrs ago. He was a mate of Jack Perry, Vic Dunkley, Ray Bennett and most of the A Coy 2RGJ crew from Ballykelly days. A character, sorry to hear he's gone, RIP.
I knew Jim Hooton in JR Coy as a boy in his section in 73/4. Then met up with him 2RGJ in Catterick and Gibraltar. I'm very sorry to hear he has passed on.
