Just found a Picture from 1987, while looking for My local Library Info. there are three pictures 26/27/28 which feature members of (I presume) 3RGJ (Colchester). heres the uplink, just copy/paste
26 is a group Photo, And I Knew Mr Chainsaw (far Left) from a Battalion (Either 1RGJ or 1RGJ reformed) Now I'm Not so sure about it being 3RGJ - Could be 1RGJ anti-tanks or mortars or 2RGJ. Mr Chainsaw, let us know
p.s if This is already Known or links elswhere sorry. PPS i mite update this after I go back to my Flat and look at my ACoy, N.I. & Belize (Last working 1RGJ(original) Plt Attached To L.I.) 1992
When the storm happened most of the Senior NCO's and officers were over in Germany doing Umpire force for a big exercise (Ex Keystone). The Bn had just arrived in Colchester from BAOR and no sooner were we settled than we were back over there for three weeks chasing about with APC's again. The blokes thought they were all in for a big skive until they got spammed to clean up a few thousand trees that had blown down. You can see from their expressions that they got stuck in as Riflemen always do. Thanks for the link it brought back many happy memories.
! So I was Right 1st time, it's Crazy, cos I was either home ( at me Mums or sutton Colefield (pre-army tests)) when the wind blew ( too many Abbott Ales Since!!) I knew or recognised most of them too... just the one of the vehical with Someones back has got me stumped, and obviously not everyone was in the Pic, Glad someone liked it.....
