After some help...... Before my dad passed away he sold his medals ( beer tokens no doubt) and the 3 of us kids would like to trace them, they include the... DCM, BEM, GSM, UN and one from the sultan of Oman, I was informed a fellow RFN had bought them but we can find no trace! Any info will be most appreciated. Regards Ratty. C et A
If you do not have any luck tracing the medals on this website you could try the auction houses who will be able to tell you if they were sold officially. They will not tell you who bought them but it will give you a starting point.
Ratty, its only a suggestion, but do a short piece for the Swift and Bold magazine, if an ex green job does have your dads medals he may come forward mate.
As a medal collector I can say that the group you are looking for would be worth a small fortune and if i am correct was sold in 1995 by DNW. Wouldn't be surprised if it went for 30k plus
I suggest you join the online forum - british medal forum and ask the forum members if they know its whereabouts. Given the group I think someone will know where it is.
Failing this DNW may forward a letter for you if you ask but will never disclose the vendor.
