Hi syd, thanks for the swift reply. Everything in the planning, even thoughtful stage at th moment. I lived in Hereford for 30 odd years and wife is a local but she does'nt want to move back there. As always money is the overiding factor, but I'm only thinking of a semi in somewhere like Oswestry. I started army life in IJLB in 1963. Ideal to visit mates in Hereford and family in Liverpool. Bit further to daughters in Winchester but the M6 aint too far.
House prices are on the Up and probably will be to 2015 at least -Change of Govt /Hung Parliament /another crisis ?
Buy a few copies of local county magazine/newspapers -get the flavour across the board .
Remembering Major , Sarge & Trooper -will you need a local vet ?
Remembering your knees will you need medical support ?
Do not rush -think about renting.(if for a month or two then think about Travel lodge /Premier Inn/ no over heads as with tenancy agreement -haggle for discount )
Use family / friends for overnight recce base .
Things and people are always more amenable in the Spring -longer sunshine hours !
Stick to the bare essentials whilst resettling don't waste time and money on the Wish List - that can wait.
