what a man still miss him he always had a snotty nose good radio man and am I right in saying he died on the falklands seem to remember his name on the grave stone their, sad loss a good mate of jack spences they will be on the pop about this time .all the best

i knew eddy walpole well,he was my radio/op during our time germany and we were together for a long time,my visual memory of eddy was of a tall,thin man,nose always dripping and those immortal words when on exercise" they want you george but i told them you were not avaliable".a great friend and a rock steady soldier,a true rifleman,eddy left us when he had the chance to be attached to J troop,22 sas as a storeman,he did indeed die during the falklands conflict when the chopper he was on with members of 22 sas went down over water,a good man

I met Wally when I joined the regiment in 1968 he as George recalls was one of the signallers and if memory serves me right was call sign 13B I on the other hand was 13C and during those early months he taught me a lot about the radio we were using in the 432's. He was like a big brother to me and I was sad when I left the army but we still kept in touch right up until he went to Hereford. It wasn't until I bumped into Chalkie that I found out Wally had passed away and how that had come about, it was just like someone had struck me in the gut such a loss. I still think of him and remember all the good times we had together. Once a friend always a friend we will never see his like again.
