Hi - I am trying to get in touch with Dick Richards - I don't have many details but he did serve in NI with my dad James White ( Chalkie ) in the 70's and was his best man when he married my mum (Kate) - any help in contacting him would be very much appreciated.
I remember a Richard Richards known as Dick in 1 RGJ in the very late 60's early 70's and the last I heard of him was around 1985 and he was the owner of a Shop selling Specialised Chocolates!
Not very much information I am afraid - but if it same person maybe it will prompt someone's memory!
Hi - Thanks for the replies. I've just come back from visiting my dad and have a little more information. He (my dad) was intially in 1RGJ - B Company, HQ Company and then C Company until around 72 when he was transferred to 3RGJ HQ Company. I believe Dick was in 1RGJ with him. I am actually trying to get in touch with Dick on behalf of my father - although he is unaware of this hence the very sketchy details. I am also trying to locate any pictures of my father while he was in uniform as he has none. Any way thanks for the help. Samantha
Hi Samantha I was in the signals plt which was part of hq coy in the 3rd and I do remember a chalkie white. he contacted me a while ago,(last year) and he was working out in the sandpit as staff nurse /or nursing officer in one of the hospitals. Problem I have got is, when he contacted me it was on my old pc which has since died and gone to software hell where it belongs, so I can't get his e mail for you to see if it is the same guy. sorry I can't be of further help Malcolm Don Donnison
Hi Malcolm - Thanks for the reply, its actually Dick Richards (real name John) i'm looking for. He was a good friend of my fathers and it is on my fathers behalf that i am trying to trace Dick. My father described Dick as a 'lanky good looking fellow with a moustache and glasses' - he thinks he is/was married to a Checzlovakian girl - Dick stayed with 1RG as far as he knows and there is a couple of pics of Dick on the photo-section. Thanks again for your reply, best regards and i believe the correct ending to this messages is 'stay green' - Samantha
Hi Keith - i spoke to my dad and he thinks you are talking about the guy he is looking for. His real name is John Richards, a lot of people think the 'Dick' part referred to his first name rather than his last. He was a tall fellow with a moustache and glasses. It would be great if you could tell me where about his shop was - my dad thinks he came from the midlands - many thanks, i believe the correct vernacular for this site is 'stay green' {-) Samantha (and Chalkie White)
Just for information - the bottome left of the four pictures on the new web-site front/home page has a few guys from the anti-tank platoon around 75 - Dick Richards is the tall guy on the right hand side, holding a cup of tea. _Cheers, Samantha
If anyone can help me get in touch with Dick Richards I would be very grateful. My email is jkw123@hotmail.co.uk or they can contact Samantha via this thread - cheers.
