Hi Christine

My name is Dave Moloney; I knew your dad very well having served with him in the Anti-tank Platoon 2 RGJ from 1978 -83.  We were in the same team for our tour of North Armagh in 79 along with Deano Dean and Dick Sylvester.  Your Dad was a great character, who always saw the funny side of things even when times were hard.  He was the only bloke I knew who could roll a fag, drink a brew and talk at the same time and all that whilst travelling in the back of an open top Landrover doing 60mph on the A1.

My wife Chris was friends with your mum and we often could be found in Vernon's our little drinking den close to where you lived in Minden.  Sadly we lost contact after they left in 86.

Please except our condolences Bob will be sadly missed by all who knew him.  I will let some of lads know such as Leo Massey, Phil Ashby, Gary Byrne and Danny Hunt I'm sure they have good memories of Bob.

I think I've got some photo's of us together I'll have a look and remember old times.

Please pass on our regards to your mum

Kindest regards

Dave and Chris Moloney

Hi christine
Sorry to hear bob has passed away. it seeams that all the best lads are leaving for the big parade square up above.  I served with bob in minden in the Anti /tanks.  Please send my regards to your mum. Used to drop in for a brew when we were on a skive.  Last saw your dad in Belgium when he was on an exercise when he was in the Kings Regt TA I think and as normal sat doing his rollies ready for the long stags he knew he'd be on.

Bob was a great bloke to have around and will be missed by all that knew him.
Again condolances to you and your family at this difficult time.

Celler et audax Bob

Hello Christine
I left Minden in 1985 but I do remember your your Dad the short time I was in the Anti-Tanks. Bob was a straight forward guy with a damn fine sense of humour who was liked by all.
I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Please accept my condolences at your sad time.

We are so sorry to hear of your dad's passing, he was a very good mate.  We remember many a night in Vernon's and then going back to the flat for 'neck of lamb' good days.  Please give our regards to your mum.  You also mention our son Nathan, he is fine with 3 kids now, I would love to see his school photo (haven't got that one), you may also remember his sister Victoria, she was at the same school.  I will try and find some photos out for you. All our very best wishes, Colin & Marilyn Bedden

Hi Christine,  It was with great sadness, when i read of your Dads passing, he was a great bloke chris, i served with Bob in Gibraltar in 1975, we were " B "coy 2 RGJ.  Two other ex-riflemen, im in touch with also served with your dad, namely Ken ( granny ) grainger & Ian harrison. Ken was the step brother of Robert " wally " watson who you rightly mentioned had passed away here in Gibraltar. My wife Sue & i also remember your mom. Dad & Mom occupied a married quarter in those days for awhile overlooking eastern beach, it was known as " Med Hotel " sadly, it was demolished only several weeks ago as part of re-development of the area. Sue & I also recall a little girl in a buggy, who went everywhere with mom & dad, lol. it was amazing how all the memories come flooding back isnt it, especially where you mentioned names. The list is endless believe me, who new, worked & shared a beer ( or two ) & a laugh with Dad, wonderful man. its been about 36 yrs now since i left the Army, still reside in Gibraltar and often check the RGJ web sites to see if i can get in touch with old colleagues. In closing chris, id just like to send our sincerest condolences. " God Bess you Scouse " a special friend, also best wishes to you, your mom & all the family, christine. God Bless. Regards & Best wishes, Alan & Sue Ashwin. ps, my e-mail address is : monkeymountain@live.co.uk.
