Hi to all my old mates from 1 RGJ 66 to 75.

If your like me you have got on with your life taken various jobs and concentrated on your families - BUT often thinking back to the Days when you had Real Mates.
Lots of names and events pop into my mind but i cant always remember all the names when i look at the old pictures.
If anyone remembers those days drop a line on this Board or e mail me )e mail address below).

I rember some names and if you have any info on these or any of the lads from those days
I was in 1 RGJ "A" Coy in Berlin, The Shooting Team, Tidworth, Cypres, Canada(if anyone has pictures from Canada in the days of Turle i would like to see them)  "A" Coy  to Celle where we became Mechanised.
With "A" Coy to NI in 69 to Dunganon then up to Belfast where we slept on the Streets no accomodation in those days.

I then Joined Support Coy the Mortar Platoon went NI IN 71 for Internment then again 72, and 73/74.
I finnished up in Dover.
I have great memories of blokes like:
Mick Colton,  Paul Knight, Chippy, Jock Mc Coll, Crosby, Billy Cooper, Tomy Love,Bert Henshaw, Tony Woodley,
Jimmy Condon, Geordie Oates, Paddy Gibbson, Geordie Tollerson, Tomy Nixon, Dave Fairhurst, Frankey Flat ~ plenty of others but names fail me.

Also I played Rugby for the Batalion.

I'll pass on to Tollie to check the website and see if he'll drop you a line.

All the best

Ray,
I remember you mate. And the rugby! Glad to hear from you. Trust you are well. Where abouts are you living now?

That old A Coy in Tidworth in 68/69 with Arish Turle was a good one. Probably the best OC ever.

Arish was at the recent Memorial Dedication and I marched past with him.
Den Godley and John Wilson were with us too. Arish was greatly concerned that he may of taken 7 days pay off us at some stage. He was very sheepish about it all.
I assured him he never took 7 days pay from me. It was 28!! Oh how we all laughed!

Take care mate. And get yourself to a reunion.

Hello to you All

Loads of names from the past found on this page today , any of you remember me! I Joined 3 Platoon, Letter A Company, 1GJ in Berlin May 1965, then went as a Company storeman with Pete (Doggy) Collins, Spud Taylor, And CSjt Stan Wright, I went back into 3 Platoon soon after we got to Lucknow Bks,Tidworth in 67,  did the UN tour in Cyprus, and  then went to the Bn Signal Platoon, Did Canada and the first tour Ireland in A Company Signal Detachment , Have just dug out photos of all these tours many are stuck in albums don't know yet if I can get them onto a scanner but will have a go.

Like Sandy Wells and  others I went on and did 27 years, leaving the Army in 1992, and retired from all paid work last year.

Now I have found this page will have a look every few days Good luck to you all, are you all like me still only 18 to 20 years old!!!!!!

All the Best

Hi Ray, I suppose this is a bit of a blast from the past but I have just come across your notes to the lads.  Yes A Company in Celle was great, with Arish Turle being the best OC ever I think.  I remember playing battalion football with the likes of Roger Bone, John Astbury, Derek Hunter.  I really enjoyed those days, with our company club up in the attic and I also enjoyed doing all the discos with Roger (Smiler) Miles!  Anyway it was great to see your post, hope you are still well.  Stay safe, best wishes, Tony Woodley.

Blast from the past indeed.  Hope you are well in these difficult times.   A long way from A Coy and the late Arish Turle.  Where did all the time go?
