Many moons ago serving as a natoital service man in 1st Batt' RB. We carried the battle honours on our cap badge.(1950s)
Now i see the Rifles badge has no laural leaf containing the honours, does that mean the Rifles has colours , or is the honours won in the past now forgotten?????
The main Battle Honours of the forming and antecedent regiments of The Rifles are proudly carried on the "Belt Badges" of all Rfn (Officers, SNCOs, JNCOs & Rfn). The officers and WOs have them on their 75mm size Cross Belt badge the CSjts & Sjts on their 50mm size Cross Belt and the Cpls, LCpls & Rfn on their waist belt badge. If you go to The Rifles Website (http://www.army.mod.uk/infantry/regiments/3469.aspx) then click on Dress & Uniform and then click on what to wear, when and how you will find a shortened form of The Rifles dress regs and see things that will not be too unfamiliar to you. I recommend that you explore The Rifles website as it will give you a great deal of information about the regiment, what we are up to and the various historical links to our forming and antecedent regiments. You may wish to subscribe to to twice yearly "The Bugle" magazine which can be obtained from RHQ The Rifles (The Bugle) Peninsual Barracks Romsey Road Winchester Hants SO23 8TS
You will note that RHQ The Rifles is located in the barracks which once was the Depot of the KRRC/RB/RGJ and laterly the Light Division. I hope that is of help. J-D v M Lt Col
If you send me an e-mail with your contact number I can tell you how we developed the Cross Belt Badge and what we used as the basis for the design. Please send it to london@the-rifles.co.uk
