Saw your Article Dan and look forward to the programme. Not sure I would agree with all the comments, e.g., the Prods were not too welcoming of us in 69, gun battles with the LI at the bottom of Petershill (Shankhill) left a few injuries and at least one policemen dead and an off duty Catholic soldier was also killed in Aug 69 by the Prods - nonetheless, I think too many people on the mainland either took little notice or simply do not know of the sacrifice made by the Army during the troubles. I have been back about twenty times during the past couple of years - walking around in Ardoyne, Falls, Andytown and Turf Lodge - talking and listening to some of those who were on the other side - quite an experience - met some fine people too. I hope some day that there will be a genuine dialogue between former combatants - I think that is a way to put the thing away for good. In any event, look forward to the programme and your book - very best regards, James (Chalkie) White, 1&3RGJ 67-74
