This is a message for anyone who knows my father, EDWARD CHAVNER of the 3rd Battalion, RGJ Company.
Some of you may or may not know that in October 2009 Dad was unfortunately diagnosed with small cell lung cancer and secondary bone cancer. He has undergone chemotherapy and radio therapy over the last four to five months and is currently still being seen by oncology departments at our local hospital. With this type of illness its difficult to know how long Dad might have left so all the time that we can spend with him is very precious.
It is Edwards / Eddies / Chavs or as I know him better, Dads, Birthday at the end of this month and we are organising a SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY for him my Aunties pub. This will be on SATURDAY 22nd MAY 2010 at 7.30pm at
The Angel Inn, Parsons Corner, North Shoebury, Southend On Sea, SS3 8UD. its a cosy little pub five minutes from the seaside town of Southend with picturesque Leigh on sea only a further ten minutes up the road.
There are a few decent B&Bs in Southend town and also a Travel Lodge and the newly refurbished Palace Hotel on the seafront, another nice hotel is The Rosalin Beach Hotel which has a good reputation locally.
So if you knew my Dad way back when please come and celebrate his birthday with us! It would be wonderful to meet you and I know Dad would really appreciate seeing a few old faces from the good ole days! Look forward to seeing you all there!

Excuse my ignorance, but is the reunion on Cup Final day for any specific era or battalion. My dad (75 but still extremely fit and healthy) has asked me to look into RGJ reunions. He served in Kenya via National service in circa 1953
