My uncle was in the RGJ around 1972 and his brother is despertely trying to trace him over a family inhertance.  I think he was in 3RCJ but it may have been 2RCJ.  I know that he was in Ireland but got out after one of his mats got shot.

He was a private when he got out and his name was Smith but I haven't got his platoon numbers.  He had black hair and everybody called him smudger.

If anybody can point me in the right way I wold be greateful.

I live in Germany now but I can cheque the site regularley.

Hi, all us Smiths were called Smugger when we were serving. Do you have a full name for your Uncle? There were 3 Battalions of Royal Green Jackets - I was in the 1st Battalion and in Northern Ireland in 1972. Give more details and someone might remember him. Regards - Ray Smith (Smugger 1st RGJ 1966 - 1975)
