I knew Mick Byrne in 1981-3. He was a carpenter working for ASU, Celle Trenchard Barracks. He married a German Girl Peggy and had a son. They lived in Celle with Peggy's grandfather. We were friends and he talked about 3 RGJ and mentioned Borneo. Mick had problems with his back and was a keen fisherman.

I've been looking for Mick too but can find no trace. I worked in Trenchard Barracks in the ASU for a short time which is how I got to know him.  Perhaps you could try the ASU (Accommodation Services Unit) Trenchard Barracks, Celle if you have any contacts in Celle.  I hope you are able to track him down, I cannot remember his home address I'm afraid so this is probably not much good for you but I just wanted you to know you are on the right track up until the early 1980's.
