I was wondering if anyone knew of the whereabouts of the memorial clock dedicated to the late RSM Colin Manning (2 RGJ) which my daughter Suzy and I commissioned for 2 RGJ on his death whilst still in service at Connaught Barracks, Dover, Kent, in 1990.
the clock you mention is held in the Sgt mess 1 RGJ at Weeton Barracks near Blackpool where the Battalion is now based the Guardroom no is 01772260777 and ask to be put through to the Sgt mess and speak to the mess manager or ask to speak to the RSM now WO1 MABB hope this helps you i left the army and the Royal Green Jackets in 2004 after doing 22years as a SGT if you need further help let me know
Thanks for the information. A Mr Kinkade answered as well! Just wanted to know if it was still in existance and its great to know that it is. It was meant to be the guardroom clock, but I believe "the powers that be" thought it would be better off indoors which is nice to know that it is being looked after, especially in the Sgts Mess. Have a good Christmas.
I am WOII Pete Goodchild (RQMS ATR Winchester) I was a Rfn at the time when your late husband was the RSM of what was then 2 RGJ. With referance to the present location of your presentation to the Battalion i.e. the clock it is presently inside the main entrance to 1 RGJ Battalion Headquarters in Weeton for all ranks to see and not in the Sgts Mess.
Its over a year since I've been on this site and am amazed by the replies that were on it. I do remember you and "little Suzy" is now 34 years old and doing very well for herself. Off to the mountains in S. France for adventure training courtesy of her employers with all expenses paid. Her dad Colin would have been so proud of her. Did you get to see the memorial clock?
Nice to hear from you and to know that Colin is still remembered, although I am late in replying to your tribute. Thanks very much. It will be 17 years since he passed away on August 28th 1990 but now and then it is good to keep in touch with those from our army days.
