Good luck for the stag and the wedding Pete, if you are having trouble remembering me, you and Mick Sweeney were with me in Celle the night I was knocked down by a hit and run drunk German driver who broke my leg in two places. We had to go to court later after they finally caught him. You also took Mick Sweeney and me out on our first night in Germany after we had just arrived from the depot. I think it was the Tifle Bar or something like that, a real eye opener. Mick and me went through training together, with George Humphries, (one of the best), as one of our training corporals. We ended up with his brother Joe (another one of the best) in one platoon. I can also recall Paul Ambrose who ended up in our room in Celle when he arrived from the Depot. We all went to see Jimmy Mathews fight in the boxing finals against the RCT, I think it was 74, after he won his heavyweight bout there was more fighting outside the ring as we were pissed off with some of the other results that night. There are so many other stories I could tell, like the night you and Jonah tried to climb down from the floor above our room to get into ours and Jonah fell and broke his kneecaps. Me and Mick saw him go past the window with you hanging out the window above. It seems as a Londoner I spent a lot of time hanging around with the scousers, they were always a great laugh to be with. Who can forget the great Jimmy Rowan? Even now I go up to Liverpool once a year to visit the Empire Theatre and see a show, stay in a hotel down by the docks and stuff my face in one of the new restaurants there. My boy loves all the Beatles stuff, my wife loves the shopping and we are always made so welcome. Right I have gone on long enough, my best to you, your new wife, Mick Sweeney and Paul. Up the Spurs!
Know some of the names you mention. Great days Celle. Think your dates are wrong Boxing final was 73 not 74 pretty sure. seem to remenber the waller who fell out the window bit or folklore in the bar.
