I was in Kenya in 1955. I was 5 years old ! My dad worked out there and I well remember going to bed at night crapping myself - it was the time of the Mau Mau and they tended to dice people.
Much later ie 1985 I got to know the Woodleys, ever know them ? Bill ,Ruth and 3 boys. Bill was ex Kenya Rifles, ran Tsavo East Game reserve. He also won an MC fighting the Mau Mau in the Aberderes.
Ooops Sorry Peter.Iwas hoping you would come up with the name CSM Duncan,a name that burns in my memory, having made my life hell for 2 years, did hear he made Captain.Still I don't think in the long run it did any of us Nat' Service any real harm.
Don't worry Dave, you were not the only one to crap them selves, some nasty smells would eminate from some where, although I think we were more worried about Buffalo & Rhino than Mau Mau especially at night in the forrest. Sorry don't know your friends, as you can imagine we did not have much of an opportunity for a social life.
